Children and young adults with IBD may suffer from sarcopenia, a key component of malnutrition, which is hard to detect with current tools. We aim to test if ultrasound, a simple bedside method, can effectively measure muscle mass in these patients. Early detection may lead to better treatments and improved care, in a non-invasive way, without side effects, x-ray exposure, and additional costs.
