PROJECT AIMS
ICU-acquired weakness is a serious and debilitating condition that potentially leaves patients with permanent residual activity limitations and participation restrictions. Despite the availability of many different rehabilitation approaches, there is no effective recognized treatment. This failure is largely linked to the fact that the pathophysiology of ICU-acquired weakness remains incompletely understood. A longitudinal clinical trial will be carried out within this project, aimed at:
• Determining the differential effect of treatments.
• Identify biomarkers predictive of recovery.
• Conduct gender-specific analyses.
